The British defense secretary thinks Obama has been waffling way too long on the decision about sending additional American troops to Afghanistan.* He claims that is why Britons are wavering in their support of the war. (Not true, they’ve been wavering in their support for months now.) Britain currently has 9,000 troops in Afghanistan. As of early October, we had 65,000. The Brits are considering sending an additional 500. General McChrystal has requested 40,000. That would be 80 times more. Maybe they should put more “skin in the game” as it were, if they are going to be making snarky comments.
*I agree with his point and, as an American, with so many of my own compatriots at risk, that’s definitely my prerogative.
