Apparently, now that GCS has convinced enough residents to pass the latest (gigantic) bond, it turns out that the location they had marked for the new Southeastern elementary school in their pre-election documents is not feasible after all. According to the N&R: “School district officials say they scoured the Southeast for property but found none that met all the criteria.” Wouldn’t you think they would have “scoured” the area before marketing the bond? The Rhino Times touched on the issue in a recent article about the refusal of some members of the school board to rein in construction costs.
